 I'm working on getting this added to the WP trunk -
 http://trac.wordpress.org/ticket/7344

 It would be much appreciated if we could also make this change in the mu
 trunk before the 2.6 release.  I have some changes I would like to release
 with a 2.6 version of the ldap authentication plugin.
