 It would be helpful if we could add a 410 (gone) ststus to the header of
 deleted, archived and spam blogs. That way they will be deleted from
 search engine index (and cache).

 This could be added to the 'graceful_fail' calls around here:
 http://trac.mu.wordpress.org/browser/trunk/wp-settings.php#L330

 A second option would be to add a hook to the 'graceful_fail' function so
 this could be done via a plugin and a call to the 'status_header'
 function.
