Thanks Donncha. I appreciate it, and I'm sure that this can make a
 difference.

For this to take hold, I'd like to immerse people in the wiki as directly
 as possible.

On regular WP, e.g. from http://wordpress.org/support/, the Docs points
straight to http://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page (not a static page).

I believe that using having Docs point to the WP model is advantageous for
 1) immersing people in the wiki as soon as they hit Docs and 2) minimizing
 the community's dependency on you.

Immersion is important because I don't think people really read when
exploring, they look to see where places go. Taking them straight to the
wiki gives them the sense of "oh, this is a place I can change" i.e. "I
can blend in my changes". On a static page we're not going to get
 improvements from other building navigation.

Can you repoint the Docs link from the static page
 http://mu.wordpress.org/docs/ straight to http://codex.wordpress.org/WPMU?
I've done the work to copy and reformat your text into there.

 Thanks again.
