 This bug has obviously been around for a long time btw, but it is so BAD
 it totally stops me from using wordpress MU for what I need. Its quite a
 spectacularly bad bug.

 When you create a new user without a blog, and then try and go to the
 admin page (or just try and log in, since logging in directs you straight
 to your dashboard) you get an infinite redirection. It doesn't matter if
 you make a blog later - with the same name or different name to your
 username, it still gets the redirect error. FF notices that something has
 gone wrong and gives you a message, IE just hangs. Server logs just show
 lots of redirect failures.

 If you go to the admin/dashboard area from your own blog after the create
 user first, create blog second process, it will work fine. Only an issue
 if you try to go to your admin panel from someone else's blog or the login
 page on the main site page.

 Works perfectly fine if you create a blog at the same time as you sign up
 as a new user, which most people do ... those two reasons together is why
 this has gone so long without being fixed, I imagine.
