 In r1139 several WPDB functions were removed. The comment says merging
 with WordPress 2.3.1, but WP 2.3.1 still has these functions:

 check_database_version()]
 * [http://trac.wordpress.org/browser/trunk/wp-includes/wp-db.php#L474
 supports_collation()]

 I think the simplest solution would be to revert source:trunk/wp-includes
 /wp-db.php to r1125 although I haven't looked into r1125 to see if there
 were any other issues.
