 This should probably be discussed in forums first.  A quick
 [http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22SSL%3A+fatal+protocol+error%22+fgets&btnG=Search
 google search] for this error shows that SSL support is available for php
 4.3 and above.  Wonder if that may be the issue.
