 Looks like this has been addressed by the welcome panel redesign in trunk.
 The strings "Write your first blog post" and "Add an About page" are both
 gone, the panel now shows generic wording, which is essentially what
 comment [https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/26764#comment:14 #14]
 suggested. The patch no longer applies. Can we close this as fixed?
