 Is [62288] intended to be backported to 7.0? If so, let's reopen this
 ticket.

 By the way, I discovered an issue on the Gutenberg plugin side where all
 default connectors are unintentionally considered "active" because the
 default connector does not have an `is_active` callback added. This should
 be fixed in https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/pull/77897.
