 I just wanted to reiterate that this specific issue is going to fade away
 appear to be "fixed" as various systems ship support for Unicode 17.0 in
 the coming weeks. However, the root cause will remain and will resurface
 when Unicode 18 is released and systems lack native support.

 the designs are consistent. For example, so systems using Noto Emoji don't
 end up with a mixture of colour and black and white designs.

 This is my recollection (and personal preference) as well. Especially
 since we can't know the intention of the user in how the character was
 used.

 One question that I had, though. Is there a reason why the character can't
 be wrapped in a `span.wp-exclude-emoji` tag to skip parsing of that
 specific instance?
