 FWIW, yes, we did look at other solutions like Squoosh, but they're not
 nearly as comprehensive as Vips. And Squoosh specifically is unmaintained.
 This feature needs to support a ton of image formats and operations, not
 just simple PNG to WebP conversions.

 Vips itself actually supports a modular approach with dynamic imports, but
 with the WordPress distribution limitations they end up in the same bundle
 anyway.
