 Beta 3 appears to resolve my issue.

 though I will say that there's **significant** lag in the editor area
 being useable upon loading the screen that was never there with 6.9.1 or
 any earlier version. Approximately 7 seconds after the initial page is
 loaded but before I can get focus into the editor.
