 Just to tl;dr for folks only skimming since I just got DMed about this:
 users can upgrade to 7.0 ''or'' install the WP AI Client as a plugin until
 the can upgrade.

 Regrettably, future-compat is always a concern when shipping premature
 functionality to production users, but hopefully the latest changes to WP
 AI Client will make it easier to support existing users while still being
 able to benefit from whatever future goodies come to WP7.next.
