 @dmsnell I'm just trying to share some positives about this change from my
 perspective. It was not a response to your PR. I don't have anything
 against restoring version control for some files that are required for
 booting WP. I know everyone wants an easier sync too, I just wanted to
 share how it fared in practice. :)
