Comment:

 I checked and there are a number of plugins already available to control
 revisions and at least one included a date based control (none super
 popular):

 Given the lack of activity here, I'm going to close this as "not planned"
 as part of my revisions component cleanup.

 Feel free to reopen this ticket should you wish to propose a solution.
