 @jameskoster shared an idea that I'm attaching here.

 It adds a "New" badge next to the field that lasts until the 7.1 or 7.2
 release (depending on how we feel the cadency) or after X number of visits
 so users don't need to wait until the next release to not see it again.
 For the later, after 10 times visiting the page sounds a reasonable period
 to me.
