Hi @lukecarbis, in terms of code, nothing would block the Akismet
connector from showing even when it is not installed. It is a product
decision, and @matveb's messaging was clear that it should only show when
installed, so it makes sense to follow the decision.
My understanding of the reasons is that the other connectors are not
bundled. Akismet is. If a user did the extra work of removing it, that
user probably is not interested in the connector. Happy to be corrected if
there are other reasons at play.

whether Akismet is installed or not. The same deal as Anthropic, ChatGPT,
and Google – in a defaults array specified during the
`_wp_connectors_init` function – rather than special treatment depending
on whether it's installed or not.
