 I attached a
 [https://core.trac.wordpress.org/attachment/ticket/63061/63061-deprecated-
 functions.patch patch] that wraps all calls to the mentioned deprecated
 PHP functions in a PHP version check.

 Externally maintained libraries are not included, instead I opened a PR
 upstream:
