 Its pretty much old ticket, but just want to add a few lines here:


 This issue happens due to missing or incorrect rewrite rules. Check that
 your .htaccess file is in the main folder and includes proper rules. Make
 sure mod_rewrite is enabled on your server. In wp-config.php, confirm
 SUBDOMAIN_INSTALL is set to false for folder-based setup. Then go to
 Network Admin → Settings → Permalinks and resave them. This usually fixes
 the “page not found” error for new user sites.
