Comment:

 Agreed.  This is `early`-adjacent given the impact of changes to
 `add_post_type_support` and surface area.

 With open questions remaining and 6.9 RC1 releasing shortly, moving this
 to `7.0`.

 If any committer feels the remaining issues can be resolved in time for
 6.9 RC1 and wish to assume ownership, feel free to update the milestone
 accordingly.
