 Thanks, @mmcalister! I can confirm that this is reproducible in WP 6.8
 Beta 1, but not in the latest nightly of the Gutenberg plugin. Judging
 from some 500 errors I'm seeing in the console log, I suspect that this is
 a side effect of https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/56481#comment:45.
