 @adamsilverstein @kirasong I remember you working on this effort, but it
 seems there was no clear action item to take.

 There hasn't been any activity on this in 2 years, and I'm unsure what (if
 anything) is required - probably just more benchmarks, which are complex
 to set up and get right, so it'll probably require more iterations.

 As I'm going over inactive tickets, I'm going to close this as
 `maybelater` for now due to the lack of traction. If you have any other
 updates or are actively working on this, please reopen.
