Comment:

 I have not looked into this again. I think I will close the ticket as
 'maybe later', and we can revisit it if we find specific instances where
 the unitless value is clearly better (and only edit those).

 The administration redesign project might make this effort unnecessary
 anyway, and the issue that caught my attention in the block editor was
 fixed within the editor's reset stylesheet.
