 Thank you for your answer.

 You mention that you do not want to remove the default return path
 configured by web hosts.

 However cPanel does not use the mail.force_extra_parameters in PHP to
 configure the default return path. It defines the default return path with
 the MTA (exim) when no return path is provided by PHP.

 Using mail.force_extra_parameters is not the best solution to configure
 the default return path.

 If WordPress defines a return path than the default return path is not
 used.

 cPanel is the most used hosting panel, millions of WordPress websites use
 it.
