Comment:

 I experienced this issue in Chrome (but not Firefox) years ago
 [https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/36780#issuecomment-1536500363
 with Gutenberg 15.7] (which was merged into WordPress 6.3).

 With changes since then, including GB60890, the link control popover now
 truncates long URLs
 - showing the domain if the URL is the link text
 - showing the end of the URL below that, in gray, ignoring any query
 string

 - Plugins:
