 thanks @SirLouen — I think I wasn’t clear in what I was writing.
 //acknowledging// that this is an upstream bug, we clearly introduced it
 with WordPress 6.9 — it’s an //integration bug// between our code and
 theirs.

 that being said, I wanted to know if we can get something added to 6.9.1
 to reliably detect this fault situation and resolve it while we wait for
 the long-tail of updates to any upstream fixes which might get merged.
