 @joostdevalk Thanks for reporting this. I completely agree with the
 assessment, comment cookies would be better handled client-side (like most
 cookie-based functionality).

 That said, I think it will be a substantial effort to make that
 transition, and there will probably be a bunch of backward compatibility
 concerns getting in the way. So it will require a dedicated group of
 contributors to move forward.

 Since it would definitely be a win, I'm going to milestone this for a
 future release. Hopefully there are people that are passionate and have
 the time to drive this initiative at some point.
