Comment:

 Since the widget interface has been globally replaced with block widgets,
 and they handle many things differently, I don't think it makes sense to
 keep this issue open anymore. It's a relatively minor issue in a now-
 obsolete/secondary interface.

 Closing as `wontfix`; but feel free to re-open if you want to work on it.
