 Hi @rock4temps and welcome to WordPress trac.

 I am not able to reproduce this.
 Can you please
 1) Test again with the current nightly release of 6.8 Release Candidate.
 2) Add the full details of how to reproduce it, including which files are
 in your child theme, any custom folder structures, multisite settings, the
 slug you used as the template in the child themes's style.css.
