 Thanks for keeping on top of the stats @samiamnot.

 Just to temper expectations, I expect we'll be in a position to look at
 another bump to the minimum supported PHP version in WordPress 6.9 in
 summer next year (a year after 6.6 which was a year after 6.3), but it
 depends on the usage stats.

 about updating PHP versions

 If you're running PHP < 7.4 then a message currently appears in a "PHP
 Update Recommended" widget on the admin dashboard and on the Site Health
 screen. Not really proactive, I suppose, but it's there. Plus the biggest
 impact to PHP version usage is when hosts update their infrastructure en
 masse.
