Comment:

 This seems like an elegant solution, but it really just reverses the
 problem. As is, a user must be able to type in their desired language's
 character set to search the options; but with this change, they must be
 able to type in a Latin keyboard.

 So I don't think it ultimately solves the problem, just changes who
 experiences it.

 Punting this to future release; it needs support for Combobox or for the
 [https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Keyboard Keyboard API]
 to be made practical.
