Comment:

 We missed the date to land it in WordPress 6.7. I will explicitly set 6.8
 milestone to ensure we sort it out in the next weeks. I think we are
 getting close to finding an acceptable solution in the PR from @dlh:
 https://github.com/WordPress/wordpress-develop/pull/7344. More testing is
 needed to confirm that it won't produce unintended side effects.
