 It looks like the [https://issues.chromium.org/issues/375118901#comment6
 upstream bug report has been fixed in Chromium]. Perhaps the right way to
 proceed here is to
 [https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/blob/d478c08d4c0827864e7be4e2df487297ad36d7b0/packages/components/src
 /form-file-upload/index.tsx#L50-L55 remove this workaround] and allow
 uploading HEIC to become available in Chrome/Brave as the user updates to
 the latest version.

 The negatives of forced file conversion/temporary name seem to outweigh
 being unable to upload through one specific interface in the editor.

 This will also need an accompanying report upstream in Gutenberg for
 tracking purposes as the code change will need to happen there.
