Comment:

 This is a great idea @smtkapps I'm adding this to 6.6 to investigate a
 solution here.

 In the recent media meeting we discussed this ticket and generally feel
 like we could do something similar to what is being suggested in the
 description.

 Currently in the Grid view, clicking an icon opens the modal. In list view
 clicking the icon or the "Edit" link both will take you to the attachment
 view.

 We could instead make these more consistent and in list view make the icon
 open the modal and the edit button go to the Attachment page. This way it
 is more in line with Grid actions (icon opens modal) and still gives a way
 to get to the Attachment page.
