 Note: With the changes needed for #60457, 1 and 2 of the **Core patch** in
 [https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/60504#comment:2 this comment] will
 no longer be necessary.

 I'll get a PR up for the **Core patch** suggested in that comment as soon
 as possible.
