Yes, thinking the same. Also, as mentioned above, a redirect away from the
Plugins screen would break the workflow when installing and activating
plugins with dependencies. That would result in a somewhat mediocre UX.

A bit unsure if showing a new admin menu item or admin pointer right after
activation is critical. At that moment the user is still on the Add New
Plugin screen. Seems new menu items and/or pointers would be far more
useful when the users go to the Dashboard or the plugin's settings screen
after the plugin has been activated.
Having a way to show a notice or warning would be really good though. It
will help to keep the users informed about next steps, or eventual
problems.
