 I just found a [https://stackoverflow.com/a/12368398/93579 very helpful
 StackOverflow answer] that perfectly addresses the question about whether
 IE halts all scripts when one has a script error. In short, this seems to
 have been the case up until IE8 when the script debugging dialog may
 appear. However, IE9 and above do not do this. Therefore, we shouldn't be
 concerned about exposing JS syntax errors to such browsers as IE≤8 account
 for ~0.03% of browser market share.
