This plugin/patch still works as of WordPress 6.1. However, how is this
issue still a thing in 2023? This is just bad UX and causes confusion when
building menus. Been chasing this down for a week before finally stumbling
on this and luckily the plugin works to where I can feel confident with
handing over a project to a client.
