Comment (by bjf2000):
Now that we've had a week of 6.3, has anyone been seeing this message
around? I've seen a couple.
"Your server is running PHP version 5.6.40 but WordPress 6.3 requires at
least 7.0.0."
I'm wondering how that happens (they're not my sites). I think the key
question is this: does an automatic update in WordPress do any checking
for requirements, like the new PHP v7 requirement in this case, before
actually triggering the update or does it just barrel ahead? I would argue
that being on the latest 6.2.x is far better than having a dead site,
particularly since 6.3 wasn't even a security update.
