 I think this could use some more testing.

 I'm not familiar with the navigation fallback code yet, specifically how
 the `WP_REST_Navigation_Fallback_Controller` class relates to
 `WP_REST_Posts_Controller`, where the
 `rest_{$this->post_type}_item_schema` filter (utilized here) is applied.

 I would like to take a closer look at all the interactions here later
 today, but most likely after 6.3 RC3.
