I tried to find some performance research on this option but unfortunately
came up empty-handed.
Is anyone aware of any research that indicates the degree of benefit we
can expect from this, the situations it benefits the most, and whether
there are any situations where adding `decoding=async` to an image could
potentially cause it to render later, and thus have a negative impact on
metrics like LCP?
Performance options tend to come with tradeoffs, instead of being
asymptotically better, so it would be beneficial to understand what the
tradeoffs are a bit better before potentially adding it to every image.
