 @scottdeluzio I think this is likely related to the updater code that this
 particular non-dot org plugin uses. Having written updaters for non-dot
 org plugins/themes, there's lots of semi-documented things.

 Knowing the updater code would help find the ''real'' solution. I'm not
 sure this is a core bug. Just improper data type being sent to core.
