 Hi and thanks for the report!

 In the Customizer, I can click "Select and crop" and then "Skip cropping"
 if I have an image exactly the right size. Are you unable to do that
 somehow?

 Of course, you opened this ticket more than three years ago, so the issue
 may have been fixed since then.
