 52314-5.diff] and am happy with this patch. Think we can get this
 committed for 5.9 or is it already too late in the game?

 I think it addresses all points. I get Edit Post/Edit Page followed by the
 title. Also, works for Add New Post/Add New Page. This should work fine
 for custom post types since this now uses labels.
