 Hello,

 I am proposing a new patch (21603.3.diff) for this ticket.
 I took the patch 21603.2.diff approach and made new changes to support the
 various buttons to enable/disable selection and deletion of selected
 items.

 I used  {{{ input type="button" }}} for accessibility reasons and the
 delete button is similar to the appearance of the delete menu button. I
 hope it's ok.

 I post a gif of the behavior.
