 Just noting that WP 5.5 is a **major** release of WordPress (and not a
 minor one), and also that as far as I know, the change did not result into
 "broken websites everywhere". We had a couple of reported issues/tickets,
 but I don't have any large plugin in mind that reported severe issues with
 this particular change. BTW, we are really sorry to hear you experienced
 issues with WP 5.5.
