 Hi and welcome to Trac!

 The `type` value in `[gallery type="slideshow"]` is a feature of Jetpack
 (and/or WordPress.com sites), not standard WordPress.org (self-hosted).

 So I think the issue was reported correctly on the Jetpack forum.
