Comment (by knutsp):

 Public comment types could be integrated in current Comments screen.
 Private types could optionally cause a new menu and a simple editor, like
 post types, or handled by custom code.

 Keep the simple set of supported features, best suited for external or
 front end user generated content, some very simple adding/editing for
 admin users. We have custom post types.
