 How about mark this as a BUG instead of an "enhancement" and mark it as a
 blocker?

 The amount of pussyfooting around this issue is astounding.

 At this rate, I'm gonna have to patch that file manually until Wordpress
 8.0. And I'm sick of patching it every release.
