 Because the Google Tag Manager HTML snippet needs to be implemented\\
 **right after the opening body tag**\\
 in order to work correctly and to be recognised for website verification
 purposes for \\
 a) Google Search Console\\
 b) Google Merchant Center (the tool you need for Google Shopping campaigns
 to work)\\
 c) other stuff\\
 and many peope are using Wordpress for small ecommerce shops selling their
 individual goods.\\
 Not everybody wants to go with Shopify or Amazon. :-(

 The snippet needs to be right there.

 Not somewhere between <body> and </body>.

 Not in the <head>..</head> section.

 And surely not between </head> and <body>.

 It needs to be implemented **right after the opening body tag**.

 It this was unclear I can also provide a picture.

 And GTM may just be one example, but a very serious one. Thousands of
 users cannot imagine managing a website that wants to do marketing
 efficiently without it.
