Comment:

 The error you are seeing is part of the new sandbox feature introduced in
 WP 4.9

 Any time a change is made, WP checks to make sure you don't white screen
 (break) your site. If WP can't determine the state, it cancels the save.

 What you're seeing is a case where your site can't talk to itself and
 save. This usually happens if you have a reverse proxy or something that
 is filtering the actions.

 You can start debugging by turning off all your plugins, or testing on a
 local site, but sadly the issue is just with your site :(
